March is National Quilting Month. It’s our favorite month of the year here at Handi Quilter.

What is National Quilt Day?

Snuggle up every National Quilting Day on the third Saturday in March. Around the country, special quilting shows, classes, open museums and much more celebrate the day. It also appreciates and recognizes quilt makers, along with all of their long labor, love, and skill that goes into the making of each quilt.

How do you celebrate National Quilting Day?

Display a quilt outside of your home or in a window, take a photo and post it using the tag #nationalquiltingday. The Quilt Alliance and National Quilt Museum will be sharing posts all day on our social media accounts.

The first National Quilting Day was observed in 1992 and since then it has grown into a global celebration for all quiltmakers and quilt lovers.

How do you display quilts?

The drying rack leaning against a wall makes a perfect place to drape a few quilts. And the towel rack on the wall is another fun way to display a quilt! I also like hanging the quilts on the wall. I use quilt hangers made for wall hangings.

How do you show a lot of quilts?

Ladders are a great way to display your quilts, but here’s a new idea. Stand a section of an antique picket fence on its end and drape the pickets with quilts. There are more pickets on a fence than rungs on a ladder, and since fencing is usually wider than a ladder, you can see more of your folded quilts.

What is a quilt ladder?

It is a wooden ladder that is finished with either a white or rustic chic finish. The ladder is 48 inches tall and leans up against a wall, usually in a corner. It has five rungs to display blankets and quilts in a unique way.
